Planning
Plan a Leftovers Day
I will plan a meal to use up leftovers by creating a tasty smorgasbord or using a recipe that repurposes them.
Shopping
Eat Before Shopping
I will resist impulse buys by eating a snack or meal before going grocery shopping. Those who grocery shop on an empty stomach spend 64% more than not-hungry shoppers.
Planning
Plan to Use My Garden or CSA Produce
I will check to see what will be ready to eat in my garden or CSA box this week and plan recipes that use these ingredients.
Shopping
Buy From A Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat directly from a local farmers market and make 3 meals.
Planning
Keep a Food Inventory
I will take a fridge and pantry inventory to stay up to date with what I have at home before I go grocery shopping.
Planning
Sign up for Fridge Check Fridays
will sign up for Fridge Check Friday emails, sent by Hennepin County but open to everyone, to prompt me to check my fridge for food that needs to be used up and for hacks on storing food to keep it fresh.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanning Plan to Use My Garden or CSA ProduceHow easy has it been for you to plan your garden or CSA produce into your meals? Do you ever let your seasonal food go to waste?
Jodie Anderson 8/07/2024 9:22 AMIt was a challenge to figure out a way to use some of the foods we received (i.e. Egg Plant) that we are not used to using. However, we made a trip to the farmer's market and had a plan, and used all of the fresh vegetables that we picked up.
