Eat Before Shopping

I will resist impulse buys by eating a snack or meal before going grocery shopping. Those who grocery shop on an empty stomach spend 64% more than not-hungry shoppers.

I've learned that I really like buying my produce from farmers markets. It's been my experience that it's fresher and lasts longer.

I like to buy veggies from the farmers market. They are fresher and last longer. :)

I'm no longer grocery shopping on my way home from work as I tend to be hungry and purchase impulse items. I'm shopping either on the weekend in the morning following breakfast, or when I go to the Farmers Market during the week I'm going after dinner.

What successes have you had in reviving limp produce? What can you do so that your produce doesn't go limp in the future?

I used some limp celery in a stir-fry dish since it didn't matter if it was crunchy and it tasted just fine. I've been reading up on jarring produce to lengthen it's life so plan on doing that.

    Shopping
What are some of the things you typically buy that you weren't on your list? How do you think you might limit some of those purchases?

Typically, when buying something not on my list it will be a treat/snack of some sorts, such as chips, donuts, etc. When grocery shopping today, I only went to the areas of the store that had the items I was buying, so this helped me avoid the spaces where my impulse purchases are located.

Have you previously learned about what food is still safe to eat if a portion of it goes bad? Who taught you this information?

I have not previously learned what portion of food is still safe to eat if a portion goes bad, so this is a great opportunity for me to better understand how to utilize portions of food items versus wasting the entire item.
