REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow did you share your food-waste-reduction journey? What was the reaction to your posts?

REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanningWhat kinds of foods do you like to eat as leftovers? If you or your household members don't like eating leftovers, are there any foods you would be more willing to try than others?
Becca David 8/31/2025 7:27 AMPosted this on social media, but I don't think I posted it here so here is a photo of "Clean the Fridge Soup" -
REFLECTION QUESTIONStorageWhat kinds of food are on your Eat First shelf? Has creating an Eat First area helped you reduce food waste?
Becca David 8/31/2025 7:23 AMThis is an area where I can see immediately when I open my fridge!
I always forget things on the top shelf so that's a spot for things like eggs. By rearranging my shelving, I've been able to make items more visible and use them appropriately. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONStorageDid you find that you were storing things in a spot that wasn't a good fit? Which items have you changed?
Becca David 8/12/2025 10:29 AMI literally found out that my biggest downfall is not seeing what's in the back of the fridge that's what's prompted my reorganization. It's pretty crazy in there right now. It looks like a garden exploded inside!
More to come on this adventure! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanningAre there food items you have been better about using up and not wasting since you started keeping an inventory of what's in your fridge?
Becca David 8/02/2025 8:00 AM"What was I thinking!"
Working on this food inventory is showing me there are certain things I can't live without and there are some things I think I need and I don't use as much at as much as I thought... for example the large bag of diced celery has been waiting for use for some time now and since it's not soup, whether I realize my mistake of not separating it into smaller portions for stirfry when I put it in the freezer.
However, gently hammering to separate it should solve the problem!

Becca David 8/01/2025 4:50 PMJust getting started on the challenge and inviting/re-inviting team members! Right now my kitchen is kind of messy and that is detrimental to food prep and definitely makes me not want to focus in the kitchen, however, little by little, I'm getting organized and hoping that the food waste challenge will be an inspiration! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanningDo you have days when you don't have time to spend making food? How has meal prep helped one those days?
Becca David 8/01/2025 4:43 PMI learned from my mom meal prep can only save you time, but also set you up in a pinch for unexpected guests.
For example, preparing hamburger, turkey patties in advance, and putting them in the freezer, chopping enough celery, and onions to last for two days, -
Becca David 7/04/2025 8:48 AMI've been using these beautifully colored fresh eggs for breakfast and side dishes. Dying the shells and grinding to a powder makes a great addition to your fertilizer!
Look at these colors!-
