Sara's actions
Shopping
Scrutinize Deals
I will resist the suggestion to buy the quantity advertised on sale and only buy what I know I will eat.
Shopping
Eat Before Shopping
I will resist impulse buys by eating a snack or meal before going grocery shopping. Those who grocery shop on an empty stomach spend 64% more than not-hungry shoppers.
Cooking
Reimagine Leftovers
I will learn about how to repurpose my leftovers into new meals and then try it.
Storage
Organize My Refrigerator
I will organize my refrigerator to maximize shelf life based on the temperature and humidity of different spots.
Planning
Create a Household Cookbook
I will create a cookbook or recipe collection of go-to meals for my household to make meal planning easier.
Planning
Plant a Garden
I will plant an herb or vegetable garden at my home or community garden.
Cooking
Make Soup Broth
I will store vegetable scraps or bones in my freezer and use them to make veggie stock or bone broth. I will make 1 batches.
Storage
Create an Eat First Area
I will create an "Eat First" area in my fridge to prioritize food that needs to be used right away for my household of 2.
Cooking
Set a Timer
I will set a timer to keep me on track with kitchen tasks and cooking and baking times so that I don't ruin food.
Community
Keep all food waste out of the garbage
In addition to using up my edible food, I will keep any extra scraps out of the trash by separating them for backyard composting, curbside pickup, or a drop-off program.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanning Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Sara Peulen 8/30/2024 8:16 AMI love spending time in my garden. It helps me feel grounded and brings me back to center. I leave my phone in the house and just spend time talking to my plants and veggies. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONStorage Organize My RefrigeratorDid you find that you were storing things in a spot that wasn't a good fit? Which items have you changed?
Sara Peulen 8/19/2024 9:38 AMWe had to buy a new fridge, which force a reorganization. I purchased a couple lazy susans for the fridge, which has helped with access to items that normally get shoved to the back.
