    I was given some old apples - almost ready to throw out. I made cinnamon applesauce out of them in the crockpot.

    I have heard that the items not used in a refrigerator are condiments. I will use them to add flavor to the crock pot soup I make.

    Planning Track My Wasted Food
    What did you find you are tossing the most? How can you change your habits to avoid wasting this food?

    I do not waste very much. Except for lettuces and some fruit most of what I buy is used. My husband is concerned about me using some potential "trash" as ingredients. I especially like to broccoli stems in homemade soup and can pretty easily hide them there.

    Today I made chicken broth from the carcass of roasted chicken and vegetable soup out of old vegetables that had been languishing in the refrigerator.

    Today I made lunch out of lots of odds and ends in the frig: mushrooms, peppers, onion, feta cheese. Sautéed all that and wrapped it up in a tortilla. Tasty and cleaned out a lot of space in the refrigerator.

    I’ve been working my stores of food down. I have so much in the pantry, the frig and the freezer that it’s hard to get control of it all.

      I always think it's a fun challenge to figure out how to use up what you have without shopping more if you can. Good luck! I hope you can come up with some interesting new combos!

    yes there are a few food items I have not been storing right. I will change how I store tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini.
