What kinds of foods do you like to eat as leftovers? If you or your household members don't like eating leftovers, are there any foods you would be more willing to try than others?

Lasagna is a great leftover, and you can freeze it individual and heat it up at a later date.

My favorite is a takeoff of "impossible cheeseburger pie." Veggies, meat, liquids, all can be used (fridge cleanout). I love doing it as a bbq version!!

French toast or Brown Betty when I have bread/rolls that need to be eaten.

Stir fry when rice needs to be rejuvenated and then can clean out the fridge.

This post made me hungry as I've not had a lot of these with the heat recently!!

Are there food items you have been better about using up and not wasting since you started keeping an inventory of what's in your fridge?

Yes it makes it easier knowing what I have before I go shopping.

All I use is reuseable cottage cheese containers. I eat all the left overs from my kids so nothing goes to waste.

I thought this information was really interesting! I was surprised that fats/oils was on this list.

Does “processed” mean only canned or does it include frozen?

I wonder if alternative dairy and protein would be their own separate categories or placed into preexisting ones. Would they count as fresh vegetables or animal protein and dairy?

Please let me know if any of you want to try doing any challenges with me! :)

    Shopping
What can you do to make sure you never shop hungry?

I can keep a protein snack in my car to eat right before shopping, this would help not buy items on impulse.

Which app did you try and what do you think of it?

I use LifeSum, and so far I've lost 22 pounds using it. It helps me pre-plan meals, eat less, and tracks how many carbs / proteins / etc. I consume each day. Pre-planning helps me not waste as much food.

I love having tacos as leftovers, but if I don't want to prepare a regular taco, I'll change it to a taco salad and mix it with western dressing.

I definitely don't waste any meat since that seems to cost the most!
