What kinds of foods do you like to eat as leftovers? If you or your household members don't like eating leftovers, are there any foods you would be more willing to try than others?

Anything but meat, it tastes different when reheated!

I good guide is the reheat leftovers (including meat) how they were originally cooked. This might help with texture issues. Or planning your meat meals so you don't have leftovers.

It is going great. I was on vacation with my family so no unnecessary purchases leading up to leaving. When we got home, I came home to a cleaned out nearly empty fridge and went and purchased only what was needed.

Fooducate is awesome for finding out what is in your food. I use myfitnesspal to track.

Found and an app called "Too Good to Go" which is helps reduce food waste from restaurants, bakeries and gas stations. It's always a surprise what is available, but definitely a mission I can support.

How have you modified what you do with leftovers to make sure nothing goes to waste?

We are making less food so we have less waste and planning menus more carefully.

I have a hard time with tracking, some days I do great most I am terrible at it.

Maybe apps are too much for you right now. You could try pen and paper just to get the thought process down. Aim to only plan for 3-4 dinners each week to leave room for the unexpected or extras. Here's a simple set up: https://www.co.dakota.mn.us/Environment/Residential/Organics/Documents/MealPlanner.pdf

Are there food items you have been better about using up and not wasting since you started keeping an inventory of what's in your fridge?

Fruit. I'm realizing I buy a lot of fruit and it rots before I eat it. I need to grocery shop more often and only buy what I'm going to eat for the next couple days.

Lasagna is a great leftover, and you can freeze it individual and heat it up at a later date.

My favorite is a takeoff of "impossible cheeseburger pie." Veggies, meat, liquids, all can be used (fridge cleanout). I love doing it as a bbq version!!

French toast or Brown Betty when I have bread/rolls that need to be eaten.

Stir fry when rice needs to be rejuvenated and then can clean out the fridge.

This post made me hungry as I've not had a lot of these with the heat recently!!

Yes it makes it easier knowing what I have before I go shopping.

All I use is reuseable cottage cheese containers. I eat all the left overs from my kids so nothing goes to waste.
