Do you have days when you don't have time to spend making food? How has meal prep helped one those days?

I am lucky in that I generally do have time to meal prep; however, some days I feel too tired (e.g. after I have had my granddaughters all day!) and wish I didn't have to prep anything!

Planning Create a Weekly Meal Plan
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money? How has meal planning helped you avoid waste?

I meal planned, almost obsessively, during the pandemic (had the time). During that time, I made very strict grocery lists and followed them closely and rarely ended up with food that needed to be thrown away. I still like to meal plan; however, if I shop for a week of meals and something changes (e.g. we decide to go out for dinner or decide on a pizza night) I am not very good at making sure that I still make those skipped meals as soon as possible so that my groceries don't go bad.

We often worry about running out of food so we make too much. What thoughts and feelings have come up when you make just the right amount to eat up all the food?

Most of the time, I am glad because we are not big left-over eaters; however, when I have made a recipe that we really like, I wish I had made more so that I could it eat it again the next day, for lunch!
