Fresh vegetables and herbs tend to go bad quickly. I have worked diligently to make the best use of them to my abilities before they go bad.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Did you find any recipes that your family loved and you want to make again? What were they?

Yes. I received some cucumbers from a family member's garden, and tried a new recipe for a savory Indian pancake style dish. I would make some tweaks to it next time I make it to suit my own tastes, but it was really delicious!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What did you find you are tossing the most? How can you change your habits to avoid wasting this food?

Fresh vegetables tend to get wasted the most often. I purchase them with the intent to prepare a specific meal, and then am too busy or otherwise exhausted to prepare the intended meal before the items spoil.

I buy less, but especially buy less fresh food unless I plan to immediately eat or otherwise prepare it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Storage Create an Eat First Area
What kinds of food are on your Eat First shelf? Has creating an Eat First area helped you reduce food waste?

Usually veggies or other foods that tend to have a shorter shelf life. Having a separate area for foods about to reach the end of their shelf life helps me be visually reminded of what I need to eat first.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Planning Learn About Portion Sizes
Have you noticed any trends in the types of food that you don't make in the right amount?

Unfamiliar/new recipes that produce leftovers tend to get left behind more often.
