The results with berry storage haven't been great. I am not sure they are lasting any longer than they did left unwashed in the original containers. However, I would be sure to yank out any that were getting moldy or soft when I first open the store packaging, and then try to eat the ripest ones first.

It actually isn't new for me to check, but doing it this thoroughly is. I used to just look to see if I still had an ingredient for a recipe, Now I am looking at everything that might need to be tossed and making plans to save most of them.

I got the peppers and broccoli I didn't eat to the freezer in time. Strawberries had to be trimmed a lot, i am not sure the new storage is helping much, but they got eaten. My main loss this week was a corn tortilla that had been hiding under other stuff and turned green.

over the weekend I made a cucumber tomato salad with miso sesame dressing. I'm proud because not only was it a delicious salad packed with umami flavor, but the produce was rescued from the cull bin at the co-op where I work. AND, I tossed some fresh greens on top of the remaining cukes & dressing and brought that as my lunch today! :D How's that for a triple threat?!

This is such a simple shift in behavior, yet one that will make a major positive impact at my house. My partner and I just agreed on this area in our fridge last week, and already we've eaten three containers of leftovers! I know this will be a great step in our food waste reduction journey!

Kale is often on this shelf because it wilts so quickly. Besides trying to eat it quickly, I do my best to soak it in ice water (to refresh it) when it begins to wilt

I tend to buy snack food and chocolate which are rarely on my list. I need to go to the store less hungry, AND avoid those isles.

I am forever throwing out herbs. I will make an effort not to buy them unless I have a few recipes planned for the week that call for them.
